A new lyric video for Amy Winehouse’s ‘In My Bed’ has been released. The song is featured on her debut album, Frank, and the footage is made up of previously unseen footage from a shoot in 2004.
The video was released on January 23rd and features clips showing outtakes of the song’s original video. It was filmed in 2004 with director Paul Gore. The video is a candid look at Winehouse on the day of recording as it shows her wandering around a hotel lobby with a guitar before briefly joining a backing band of musicians. The song came out on her debut before her Back to Black era, so Winehouse doesn’t sport her iconic beehive hairdo.
The clip has been released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original music video. There will also be a reissue of the whole album, Frank, with two brand-new picture discs. The reissue will be released on February 2nd.
The anniversaries also come ahead of the release of the new biopic on the late singer. Set for release on April 12th, 2024, the film Back To Black will feature Marisa Abela playing Winehouse and follow the singer’s years living in London.
The trailer for the film has raised controversy despite being approved by Winehouse’s estate. Fans state that it is “exploiting [Winehouse’s] legacy” and “capitalising off her trauma.”
Mark Ronson, a friend and producer of Winehouse, has come out defending the film after reading the script, “I was reminded of [Winehouse’s] humour, and it really caught that well. I think she just had this whip-smart razor sense of humour, which is one of her many gifts, and they got that very nice in the film. I’m looking forward to seeing it.”
